John has developed a number of programs
to address bullying and violence in our
society today. He has worked with
children and adults of all ages to bring
the message of non-violence to our
communities and our families.
His programs are engaging and his
approach is unique; he gets kids talking
and has been involved in numerous
conflict resolutions. Many of John's
students have come forward to reveal
that they have been bullied or that they
have been the bully. John works very
closely with these children and helps
them.
John's programs don't just come and go;
John is committed to helping youth and
will work with children, parents and the
school to resolve ongoing issues as they
come up.
The Story of Sarah*
Sarah was a young 6th grader in one of
the middle schools where John was
presenting. After several workshops, the
young lady came up to John all choked
up. She revealed that she had been a
bully and had been bullying Steven for
years. She couldn't believe that she was
a bully by John's definition, because
she felt it was just verbal - she would
never dream of hitting anyone.
John worked with Sarah and with the
principal's help, brought Steven and
Sarah together to talk about how
bullying had affected both of them.
After talking together, Sarah told
Steven how sorry she was for hurting him
with her words and she was truly
regretful of her behavior. They shook
hands when it was all over with and
Sarah is no longer a bully...
